The Pride Festival returns back to Waterford this June! 

Waterford to host its first Pride March in more than a decade!

This June Bank Holiday weekend, Pride of the Déise is thrilled to announce a jam-packed Pride program. There’s something for everyone with music, film, seminars, and cabaret, and all activities before 9 p.m. are absolutely free! The return of a Community Pride March to Waterford City is a highlight this year.

Friday, June 3rd 2022

Queer Vision, a Mini Film Festival now in its third year, begins off proceedings on Friday, June 3rd at 6pm in Garter Lane Arts Centre with an intriguing program of short films from across the world; admission is free, but advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. At 9 p.m., Disgraceful Cabaret will perform a Queer night of Drag, Burlesque, Cosplay, and Nonsense at The Mojo Lounge.

Saturday, June 4th 2022

Morning seminars with Sexpert Dr Caroline West and Ms Gay Ireland Steph Fogarty begin at 10 a.m. and conclude in a live recording of the Glow West podcast at 12 p.m., addressing sex, sexuality, and the body from a sexual wellness perspective.

The Pride March is a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community’s people and culture. The march will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th from Cathedral Square in the Viking Triangle and proceed along the Quay to Hanover Street, where speeches and entertainment will take place before the Cultural Quarter Block Party at 6.30 p.m. with ALIENSINCAVES, Naoise, and The X Collective.

A Pride of the Déise & Club B takeover at Masons Bar takes the celebration into the night with one huge queer party over two floors featuring Irish Techno DJ, Producer and Enigma label founder SYM∅NYE.

Sunday, June 5th 2022

At 11 a.m., Sog will lead a beginner-friendly Yoga class in the GOMA Garden.

Manor Street CYP hosts 51 youth pride parties. The Magnificent Lady Fifi Fondue is the hostess. Young people will be the stars of this Pride celebration, where they will make new friends and allies, face obstacles in epic circle group activities, discover the flag, quizze, learn to drag workshop, and practice their Lady Gaga impression for Karaoke. Young people aged 10 to 13 are welcome from 1 to 3 p.m., and 14 to 24 from 4 p.m.

Monday, June 6th 2022

Set out on a Pride Ride Greenway Cycle at 12 p.m. In partnership with Dungarvan Pride and with thanks to Sporting Pride and Cycle Ireland, this will begin at both ends of the route – in Waterford City and Dungarvan.

When the West Waterford Rural Pride bus and cyclists from the Waterford & Dungarvan Pride Ride arrive at Coach House Coffee in Kilmacthomas, they will meet, eat, drink, dance, and be merry to honor rural LGBT+ people, community groups, and all their supporters in the county’s west!
