Achara is a three piece musical group from Co. Waterford. They cover a wide variety of genres including trad, pop, classical secular and non-secular to name a few.
The trio consists of Harp, Flute, Whistle, Violin, Piano and two female vocalists.
Achara have a unique bond as both Michelle (Violin) and Sylvia (Piano) attended Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School where Aine (Flute) taught them music throughout their time in the school. Having gone their separate ways for a number of years the trio decided to get together to form Achara, a fitting name which means ‘a friend’ in Irish.
Together with their diverse musical backgrounds coming from numerous genres they are forming an original sound which can be both haunting yet beautiful.
