With only a few weeks left of Winterval, here’s a handy itinerary to make the most of Ireland’s largest Christmas Festival before it’s all over on December 23.
One of the main attractions for Winterval 2023 is the annual Winterval Glenveagh Christmas Market. This year, more than 100 food, craft and drinks producers and creators feature across the festival.
From puppet shows to orchestras and live music…there is a host of theatre and choral events to enjoy throughout Winterval this year. Below are some of the performances not to be missed.
As part of this year’s Winterval attractions, festival-goers will be able to step through the Winterval wardrobe and be transported to a spectacular adaptation from the incredible “Broken Theatre” of the C.S. Lewis classic, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” for a one-hour show accompanied by Christmas melodies.
This Friday (November 17), Santa Claus will roll into Waterford City inside a gigantic festive bauble, partaking in a Christmas Parade which will culminate at the Winterval Main Stage at the top of John Robert’s Square. The city’s Christmas lights will be switched on, with the Mayor of Waterford, Cllr. Joe Conway, marking the official opening of Ireland’s Christmas Festival.
Get ready for an extraordinary celebration of the arts as the Imagine Arts Festival 2023 returns to captivate imaginations from tomorrow, October 24, and running through Sunday, October 29…all around Waterford City.
