We arrived in Waterford in a steady rain and after doing a walk-about, decided took for a good place for lunch. The Reg fit the bill perfectly. We were a bit damp and cold and the incredible Fish Chowder and a pint was the perfect remedy. So very delicious!
"I had the pleasure of spending New Year's Eve at The Reg, and overall, it was a positive experience. The atmosphere was inviting, creating a festive vibe perfect for the occasion. Despite the bustling crowd on this special night, the staff managed the service well. The restaurant's ambiance is a definite highlight, striking a balance between chic and comfortable. The decor added to the celebratory mood, and the DJ's music selection enhanced the overall experience. While the service was commendable, with attentive staff members, the high demand due to the New Year's Eve crowd did lead to some delays. However, considering the circumstances, they handled it efficiently. The DJ played an excellent mix of music, contributing to the lively atmosphere. It's evident that The Reg puts effort into creating an enjoyable environment for their patrons. Facilities, including washrooms, were in line with expectations. Given the busy night, maintenance was kept up reasonably well. In summary, The Reg is a solid choice for celebrating special occasions. Despite the challenges of a busy New Year's Eve, the positive aspects of the ambiance, service, and entertainment outweighed any minor inconveniences. I would recommend it for those looking to enjoy a lively and memorable dining experience."
It's always nice to visit the Reg for food or drinks. We enjoy the old charm of the bar and the food is nice too. I love seafood and fish, they have a good variety of seafood starters. From calamari rings, seafood chowder or oysters.
Casual spot with multiple spaces throughout the building to choose from. With the weather being nice, we ventured up to the top floor. If someone in your party has mobility challenges, I'd recommend choosing another location because there are quite a few stairs. The roof itself was underwhelming - there wasn't much of a view, but it was nice to be able to sit outside for a bit. The menu was decent, and what we ordered was fairly good. Service was fine, but we struggled to get our server's attention a few times. All-in-all, a pretty average experience.
