The Moorings Reviews

  • Huge portion warning. Nachos as a starter can be easily shared among two people. The same as the fish. Very tasty! You can order half portion if you have a small stomach. 😂 pity that I can’t finish the whole fish which is a waste of very good food. Will definitely come back when in town!

  • We had an excellent lunch on the patio on a beautiful day in early September. The service and food were both great. I had a burger and my wife had the fish & chips, and we both really enjoyed our meals.

  • On our drive from Cork to Waterford we happened upon the lovely town of Dungarvan. During our walk through the lovely town we decided to have lunch at The Moorings which overlooks the Dungarvan Harbor and what a great choice it was. We were lucky to be able to be seated outside so we could enjoy the beauty of the Harbor. The gentleman who greeted us was not the friendliest but not so rude as to drop the 5 Star rating and the wait staff made up for his gruffness. The food was a very happy surprise! Our starter, Crab Claws & Prawns, was a garlic buttery heaven...absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked fresh seafood! Had we know how delicious this tasty treat was we would have ordered it as a main entree! The Southern Fried Chicken Goujons was a very well prepared dish for our one non-seafood lover... tender chicken that was breaded and seasoned to perfection. The accompanying Chips were salted well and very tasty. The Fish and Chips was the best we had in Ireland, the fish was fresh, flaky and perfectly breaded... a HOMERUN! The Crab Cakes were light, fresh and delicious. The Crab Sandwich was excellent. All the portion sizes were very large. The prices very reasonable for the fresh, high quality food that was prepared to perfection.

  • Had a lovely meal in the Moorings. We had booked a table which was good as it was Tuesday night and there was a big demand. We had mains and the local Dungarvan beer. Portions are very generous. We had fish and chips and sea food grill. Fish all really nice. Only slight problem was the crabs claws and prawns were in a bowl with a lot of garlic butter. Quite awkward to get them out. Other than that couldn't fault anything. Service was really good and friendly. Was reasonably good value for a nice meal too.

  • A top spot overlooking Dungarvan harbour. For us, the big draws were that it was a) open for lunch and b) dog-friendly. While you can't take the dog 'inside', there is a great 'outdoor' element that is actually an enclosed marquee-style construct. Awesome food, great service, and really enjoyable.
