This is a confusing place to find - it is literally between Crews Accommodation and restaurant. We went for an early enough meal, six of us. All had starters a main and a third course. Each course satisfied all, the mains, all fish, were each sublime. The seafood medley was my choice which I thoroughly enjoyed. The cheese board was sparse - two pieces of delicious cheese, for which it was well worth keeping a glass of red wine, bread, grapes and chutney. Coffee finished me and we happily dispersed into the evening. Sated, in common with my fellow diners. Too expensive to make this a frequent occurrence.
The welcome we received was effusively friendly and unreserved. The bar/waiting area is tiny and furnished with one couch and high stools placed against narrow counters. The dining area is reasonably appointed and the staff are professional, for the most part, friendly and efficient. The starters of crab crème brûlée and goats cheese with beetroot were excellent. Mains of steak and the duck were both done and presented beautifully and we both enjoyed them. The additional side of greens were poor, being very hard and stringy and were returned. The bill reflects this. The French wine was pleasant. Dessert of apple cider mousse was adequate but lacked flavour. Our order for tea had to be made twice, but service overall was of a high standard. At 9pm, before desert and tea were served all the vacated tables around us were stripped of their table cloths etc and prepared for tomorrow's breakfast. This made us feel rushed and uncomfortable and in my view should be delayed until diners are finished their meals. The toilets are small and are in need of updating. The price paid was fair and acceptable. Despite enjoying parts of our meals our experience fell short of what we expected.
There yesterday evening, both went for fish / Crab and the mackerel for starters Hake and Sea grill mains absolutely excellent and compared to Dublin prices great value... our waitress was also excellent
Fantastic food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. Desserts were very large and couldceasily be shated. Looking forward to trying the early bord menu on our next visit.
Can only use superlatives to describe our experience. Excellent food and service. One of our best eating experiences of 50 years
