Dunmore East Cliff Walk

Dunmore East Cliff Walk Reviews

Reviews

  • Scenic walk along the cliffs. Can be as short as a few kilometres or over 10 kilometres if you fancy making the extra effort. Lots of ups and downs and a little spongy underfoot in places but a lot of work has been carried out to make this one of the prettiest walks you're likely to find. The sea air is great for clearing the head no matter what season it is.

  • Lovely walk to Portally Cove, great views of the Hook, Saltees and the mouth of Waterford Harbour, great geology too with the Devonian puddingstone and sandstone beds along with coastal features. pity about all the starter Castles that have been built on the landward side over the years. Easy walk with seats along the way, spend some time and enjoy the beauty of nature, rather than using the route for a forced march.

  • Such amazing scenery along the walkway of the sea and surrounds. It is maintained well with pathways and steps in place however it is not suitable for young children who may run off. On the other hand photo opportunities are plentiful and you can even see Hook Lighthouse across the water!

  • This is an exceptional walk! You can do it as a fitness walk; get those steps!..or a leisurely scenic walk. Either way its breathtaking! Pick up a light lunch to bring from Dunmore East; might even pack a flask of tea or coffee. Relax at Portally cove. Option to return by road if you want to speed up a bit on the tarmac. Good surface on the walk tho not ideal for buggies. Note of caution; one adult to no more than two kids as it's a coastal path.

  • Walked to Portally Cove from carpark in Dunmore East and back. About 5km. Last stretch requires good knees and hips because of the steps down to the beach at the Cove. Well fenced and some great views of the coastline. Great Sunday walk. There are some seats along the away. Suits walkers 7 years and upwards.
