Sarah Bowie is a self-confessed Watcher. Even as a kid, she was fascinated by things like people queueing at bus stops, or the little old ladies going for tea after mass. In addition to the recurring festival programme of events, there is a once-off festive fun event planned for each weekend from November 18th to December 23rd. Saturday was a day of fun and celebration at the Imagine Arts Festival with a 9 a.m. in Jordan’s bar for their 10th annual Booze, Blaas and Banter get-together. Writer’s Weekend, as part of the Imagine Festival, also got off to a flying start with book talks hosted by Eimear Cheasty. We finished off with a special gig performed by local musicians in Patrick’s Gateway to celebrate John Palmer’s 35 years in business in the city.
And so it’s here–the last day of what has been a brilliant festival…and there is so much to enjoy before the final act on Sunday night. More than 15 events throughout Friday had us hopping from venue to venue all over town for culture, history, heritage, drama, poetry, literature and music. Friday’s festival finished with Moonlight Benjamin in St. Patrick’s Gateway…and what a finale it was. Moonlight’s magnetic presence and energy captivated the crowd from the moment she stepped barefoot on stage.
